A promotion package for the release of an album, to include a music promo video, together with two of the following three options:
- a website homepage for the band;
- a digipak for the album's release;
- a magazine advertisement for the digipak.
I have decide to produce a music video for my coursework. For my AS media production, I produced a two minute opening of a horror/thriller with a partner. For the A level coursework, I had the choice between producing a short film, documentary or music video. I have decided to produce a music video as it incorporates both: narrative and allows me to look into different codes and conventions of a form of media that I haven't yet experienced producing. Initially, I was keen to produce a short film as I felt I could transfer the skills that I'd developed in my AS coursework. Although in the AS coursework, I found the sound element the most challenging, therefore a music video would allow me to focus on the visual element (my strongest production skill). Eliminating the weakest element of my previous projects will perhaps improve the final grade that I achieve as I'll be able to focus on the other tasks, and refine them to a better standard.
Then, I presented my three main ideas to a focus group who suggested that although my strongest idea could work well as a short film, they thought that it would be well supported with the right music in a music video format. Overall, they agreed that focusing on the visual element would improve the overall standard of my work, and therefore the grade that I'll achieve.
Alongside the promotional video, I will produce a digipak and magazine advertisement. I believe that these will challenge my photoshop skills, where previously I haven't really needed to use this software.
